The maze-like marsh area is unique here, and particularly at high tides, the meandering tidal creeks offer chances to see muskrats and river otters that call this area home. Wrapping our water trail around John’s Point, we’re in the perfect place to view several historic homes and catch the sunset over Bryant Bay on the way back to the launch site. We’ll discuss one of the Chesapeake Bay's most profitable and delicious bivalves, the oyster, and its presence in the Severn River. Craven Expeditions is founded by a husband and wife duo from Mathews County. They aim to help more people enjoy all that Virginia's Estuaries have to offer, no matter the age or experience level. Craven Expeditions currently offers tours in the Gloucester and Mathews area. There are five unique tours to choose from that can be customized to your family or group's needs. Tours are guided, narrated, and last between 1.5 and 3 hours. Tours run from April to October.

What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 72 hours before the scheduled tour. If we have to cancel due to unsafe conditions and guests cannot reschedule we offer a full refund.
Who are your tours for?
We like to think our tours are for everyone! We have tow ropes to give tired arms a break and other accommodations for the young, elderly, and people of all abilities. Those sensitive to heat will need to take extra precautions with the weather. We are happy to help you plan for your group accordingly.

What should I wear and bring?
Weather-appropriate clothes you don't mind getting wet. Close-toed shoes you don't mind geting soaked & sandy(maybe muddy). Your favorite hydrating (non-alcoholic) beverage and any medications you may need.
